Full Tour Itinerary

DAY (01): (Preah Vihear, Lolei, Preah Ko, Bakhong): Morning Tour: Drive a private 4WD toPrasat Preah Vihear is one of Cambodia’s most famous temples. Set on top of a 525 meter high cliff on the Dangrek Mountains in between Cambodia’s Preah Vihear Province and Thailand’s North Eastern Si Sa Ket Province. The temple has been the site of centuries of occupation and conflict. Building started in the 9th century but most of what still stands to-day was built in the 11th and 12th centuries by the Khmer Kings Suryavarman I and Suryavarman II. It actually predates Angkor Wat (Cambodia’s other world famous temple complex) by around 100 years. The site was dedicated to the Hindu deity Shiva through the mountain gods of Sikharesvara and Bhadresvara and the complex is a representation of Mount Meru, the home of the gods. Detailed inscriptions at the temple show accounts of King Suryavarman II including activities such as religious rituals and festivals. In recent years the temple has been a popular tourist attraction with a steady stream of visitors arriving from the easily accessible Thai side. Lunch is included. Afternoon Tour: Lolei is worth a visit just for its exquisite carvings and inscriptions which some consider being the finest of Rolous Group. It was built in the reign of King Yasovarman I, dating from late 9thcentury 893 A.D, dedicating to the memory of his father and Shiva-God. Preah KO “Sacred Bull”, the funerary temple which consisted of a group of six brick towers which dating from the late 9thcentury in the reign of King Indravarman I 879. Bakong, the state temple of king Indravarman I (877-889) at City Hari-Hara-laya, the capitalutilized by king Jayavarman II just before he moved his capital, Mahendra-parvata down from Kulen mountain in 850 A.D. Dinner is not included and overnight in Siem Reap.

DAY (02): (Bird Sanctuary & Floating Community): Morning Tour: Bird Sanctuary is one of the three biospheres on Tonle Sap Lake, and the establishment of its bird sanctuary that makes Prek Toal the most worthwhile and straightforward to visit. Lunch is at the Environment Center at the Bird Sanctuary. Afternoon Tour: Floating Community, the famous floating village, is now extremely popular with visitors wanting a break from the temples, and is an easy enough excursion for them. It is near Phnom Krom mountain where the boat docks. Dinner is not included.

DAY (03): (Koh Kher Group, Beong Mealea temples): Morning Tour:  Koh Kher Group geographically located in Srayong Cheng village, Srayong commune and Koulen district. The temple complex at Koh Kher, northeast of Siem Reap, represents the remnants of the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire from 928 AD. It was a unique period in the age of Angkor. Just a few decades after the establishment at Angkor, there was a disruption in the royal succession for reasons that remain a matter of academic debate. What is known is that in 928 AD, King Jayavarman IV, possibly a usurper to the royal throne, created a new rival capital about some 100 kilometers away at Koh Kher. Lunch is included at temple. Afternoon Tour: Beong Mealea, an untouched ruinous temple which is about some 80 kilometers from Siem Reap. It is one of the major monuments of the classical period in the style of Angkor Wat, mid of the 12thcentury AD. An exploring to this titanic ancient temple is the Angkor’s ultimate Indiana Jones experience. Dinner is on your own account.

Thommanon and Chausay Tevoda, the minor but elegant temples, situated just off the Victory Gate a short distance east of Angkor Thom, are recognizable as being of the period of Angkor Wat. Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre (BBC) is one of the most visited tourist spots in the country, with the largest butterfly exhibition in the Southeast Asia. Banteay Samrè refers to an ethnic group of mountain people, who inhabited the region at the base of Phnom Kulen and were probably related to Khmers. It is believed that some people living in the Preah Dak village are also the descendents of Samre. Banteay Samre temple dated from the same period of the construction of Angkor Wat and was built by Suryavarman II in 1113-1150, dedicating to Vishnu-God. Lunch is at the local restaurant.
