Tra peang Thmor is a natural lake where is geographically located in Phnom Srok districk, and it is situated far about 56 kilometers east of the provincial town (Banteay Meanchey province). It is a natural site similar to Kangva Basin reservoir, but larger. There are fewer activities for local and foreign tourists, however, because Trapaing Thmar is farther from the provincial town and it is a kind of remote touristic place.
Trapiang Thmar is also the special inhabitation and better source of wild animals and birds and especially rich in gray cranes, an endangered species. Gray cranes always migrate seasonally to Rattanakiri and Moundulkiri annually to lay their eggs. When their all offspring are bigger enough, the cranes try to return to its original home which known as Trapiang Thmar, because there is more food and peaceful place for them to live. It is a nice and delightful place to see and relax someday after a long day work.
